LMR to host 115th Rotary Anniversary Showcase
February 27, 2020 at the Hedrick House in Lewisville
from 7 pm to 8:30 pm
The Lewisville Morning Rotary Club is inviting area residents and Rotary clubs as well as area Toastmaster Clubs to join us in an Anniversary Celebration of the past 115 years that Rotary has been doing good in the world and promoting integrity, diversity, service, leadership, and friendship. Participating clubs will have the opportunity to "Showcase" their club mission, club projects, club fund raisers and events while community members join us for fellowship, snacks, anniversary cake and refreshments.
Committee members are; Cheryl Brennan, Mainthen Fluhrer, Jeff Lighton, Deanna Perkins, Samba Sey, Marilyn Pokorny and John Pokorny.
Our next planning committee meeting is 5 pm, Thursday, Feb 20th at Perc's Coffeehouse in Old Town Lewisville. Our committee needs your help. See below how you can help.
First of all we need help visiting area Rotary Clubs to invite them to participate. Cross Timbers RC meets 8:30 am Fri. Flower Mound meets at noon on Thursday, Highland Village meets 5 pm Thursday and Lewisville Noon meets Wednesday. Please take copies of the flyer below and ask president for a little time to promote the Feb 27 event.
We are going to have tables set up so participants can showcase their groups. We of course will have table (s) also. We will display storyboards on all of our projects. We thought Mary could do Hazardous Waste. Jeff L and Bob T will take care of flag table, Marilyn and John will do End Polio. I will do the dictionaries. We still need someone to do storyboard or displays for: Costa Rica Project (Tom R?), blood drives (Jeff S?), Breakfast With Santa (Mark - story board only). We would also like a table for youth/vocational projects (Kelly?) (Speech Contest, RYLA, Interact).
Lastly we are planning an End Polio 50/50 raffle and a prize raffle of donated prizes (Cheryl, Samba, Jeff).
Listed names above are those we are hoping can take on the task. Call Deanna or John if you have questions.
Please let me or John Pokorny know if you can help with any of these tasks. Contact Deanna Perkins (dtperkins3@aol.com, 682-554-6395) or John Pokorny (pokornyja@gmail.com, 817-505-7075) so we can mark these tasks off our list.
Thank you everyone!
If your Rotary Club or Toastmasters Club is interested in hosting a table to promote your club, its meetings and its events, please e-mail event committee chair John Pokorny.
