The 2022 Bike Awards Program is in the Books
Reading excellence. This year, Lewisville Morning Rotary has donated one bike for each grade level to be randomly selected from the group of exemplary readers in their grade level. While we are tickled for the youngster in this photo that won the bike, we are thrilled beyond belief that teachers from each grade level were able to recognize their classes superior readers. In all, over 120 Central ES students were recognized as superior readers.

Lewisville  Morning Rotary participated in the 2022 Central ES Carnival
Members Bob Troyer, Jeff Lighton, Deanna Perkins, Marilyn and John Pokorny entertained the year end Central ES students and parents with a game of bucketball. Winners at bucket ball received their choice of candy and a small toy. Kids received one each for every ball they managed to land in one of the buckets.

While the kids were taking their best shots at bucketball, our Rotarians had the opportunity to give their parents information about Rotary and our Lewisville Area Flag Project. While an actual count was not made, we estimate that at least 125 families stopped by and watched the kiddos at bucketball and received flyers. A fun time was had by all. Thank you Central ES for allowing us to participate.
Lewisville Morning Rotary participates in Career Day at Central ES
Lewisville Morning Rotary Club member John Pokorny joins 9 other community members invited to share the story of their career.

The event took place Friday morning April 29th at Central Elementary Schools. Starting at 8 AM where we had the opportunity to meet fellow presenters over coffee and a sweet, we were soon dispatched to our class rooms were we made 20 minute presentations to 3rd, 4th and 5th grade class room students about our career. When our presentation was complete we were led to another class room. We each had 4 class rooms to present to students how we decided on our career and why we enjoy our career.

The well organized event was fun...at least for Mr. Pokorny who hopes it was fun for the kids and somehow inspiring as they consider what they want to be when they grow-up. We were asked how we selected our career, the favorite parts of our job, how long we have been doing our job, how much experience we had when we started, how many hours we work, do we drive to work, what kind of tools we use, how do we dress for our job and what kind of space do we work. There was a pretty good mix of careers that spoke: Engineers, Security, Military, Marketing, Physical Fitness and others. All presenters were impressed with the level of interest and the questions the students asked. They are well on their way to sparkling careers of their own.
All Club Members invited to participate in Central Elementary School Year End Events
On May 20th club members will be participating in the Central Elementary School year end Carnival. Members are also invited to year end awards ceremonies on May 23rd and May 24th.

We will be hosting a Rotary Booth where kids will be invited to play Bucket Ball. And, parents can learn about our Rotary Club and Flag Program. Members can register online by clicking here. The event is the brainchild of Central ES teacher Maria Smithwick and members Deanna Perkins and Marilyn Pokorny who are serving on the Stat Plan membership committee. The effort will not only be entertaining for the kids during the carnival it creates an opportunity for parents and staff members to learn about our Flag Subscription program and what Rotary does in the community. Please contact Marilyn Pokorny for more information.

On May 23rd and 24th, members will be attending the year end award ceremonies where Lewisville Morning Rotary will be presenting a brand new bike to one winner in each grade chosen by the teaching staff for exemplary performance throughout the school year.
