Every year the club hosts a speech contest inviting the oratory students from Hebron High School and The Colony High School to compete for cash prizes and the opportunity to represent our club at the Regional contest April 27th. Students are asked to deliver a 5 minute speech on Rotary's Four Way Test.

 

Bring a guest. Both you and your guest will enjoy some excellent speeches on a subject everyone needs to embrace. The photo is from a previous speech contest.

 

One of our club favorite projects every month is Household Hazardous Waste Collection where club members join members of the City of Lewisville staff members to remove household waste that should not be put in the landfill or sewers from their vehicles so that it can be segregated and sent to recyclers and companies that can destroy the waste separately. 

 

Thank you to volunteers George, John, TJ, Bridget, Fallen, Will, Bob and Alex for assisting me and the city team in keeping our environment clean.

 

Mark Smith and Carolyn Wright led a team of 11 to Costa Rica this past week end for an International Service project that involved providing dental care for 80 patients without access to health care in this community of 23,000 built on an abandoned land fill. Our club partnered with the Rotary Club of San Pedro-Curridabat for this health fair.

 

We look forward to hearing about their adventures when we see them at the next meeting.

 

At the Thursday Evening meeting last week, we distributed member satisfaction surveys to all our members present. We will be distributing the surveys this week to those not present last week. Please take 5 minutes before you leave to complete the surveys. Return the completed surveys to Marilyn Pokorny or me (Bill Shaw). The survey is intended to solicit member opinions about our club meetings, projects, fund raisers and administrative processes.
