On Saturday, January 24th Lewisville Morning Rotarians and 11 National Honor Society Students from Hebron High School served at the the CCA Pantry in Lewisville, TX.
Christian Community Action (CCA) has a volunteer run pantry for over 300 needy Lewisville Area residents (Angels). Angels receive vouchers were they can shop at the CCA Pantry once a week for their food and household product needs.
Rotarians and HHS Students assist by greeting Angels, validating their vouchers, providing shopping assistance, stocking and providing check-out and wrapping of the groceries so to be taken out to their vehicles.
This Saturday we served 67 needy families.
Their are several churches and community organizations that volunteer for the pantry Monday through Saturday every week of the year. The Lewisville Morning Rotary Club is scheduled to on the 4th Saturday of every month. For the last few years, we have been assisted by the Hebron High School National Honor Society.
Individuals, community organizations and churches from throughout southern Denton County are encouraged to call CCA to volunteer at the Pantry and many other of CCA's volunteer needs. Contact CCA by clicking link here.
A good time was had by all at our Lewisville Morning Rotary Club Christmas Party December 11. Lots of food and laughs. The Elvis guitar filled with popcorn once again showed up as a white elephant gift. We also collected gifts for CCA. Howard tells us he still is trying to stand up straight after squatting to whisper something in Santa's ear. Hope he gets what he asked for...
December 13, 2014 will be memorable for Lewisville Morning Rotarians not only for it's sequential numbers, but as the day our members far exceeded it's Service Above Self objectives. We had 3 separate Community Service Activities. Our monthly Household Hazardous Waste Saturday, Our Blood Drive and our Annual Salvation Army Bell Ringing at the Lewisville Sam's Club.
Thank You, thank you, thank you to all that have served our community this month. Governor Larry told us a story last November about the Humming Bird that was trying to put our a forest fire. When asked what he, a small little humming bird could possibly accomplish, he responded "I am doing all that I can possibly do". Our members gave witness to that story on 12-13-14.
