Members of the Lewisville Morning Rotary Club graciously donate to the Rotary Foundation every quarter to support Rotary projects throughout the world including the TEACH Global Grant we are doing in India to improve literacy in 10 tribal region schools. The foundation also supported our dictionary project by matching our club funds dollar for dollar. Over 1000 local children benefited as a result of our Foundation donations and the hard work our members do on fund raisers such as the Car Show, the Pancake Breakfast and the ColorPalooza Rotary Events.

Happy New Year! Many has been informed that experts are predicting 2017 will be one of the best years on record. Gone are the doldrums of 2016, let the party of 2017 begin!
By now you have heard updates about several exciting upcoming developments and events. We are excited for the possibilities of a Satellite Rotary club in The Colony/ Castle Hills area. While members have expressed interest in starting a Satellite Club, at the initiative of District Governor MaryAnn McDuff, John and Marilyn Pokorny there has been some progress in making this a reality. (For those who have not heard of a satellite club its functions as a short-term, transitional step on the path to becoming a full, independent Rotary club. Satellite clubs give opportunities to people to join Rotary who may not be able to attend at the time the local club meets or who may want to be part of a different kind of club. Satellite clubs allow well established Rotary clubs to sponsor new opportunities in a locality.) We are looking forward to the upcoming Rotary social events at Cobra Brewery on March 2. We hope to introduce people to Rotary and what we do, and perhaps meet some new potential members. Mary Jones and John Pokorny have been working with Cobra Brewery to plan this event and make it a success. Also, we are excited and preparing for the departure of the Vocational Training Team to Nasik India. The VTT will travel in March. Let wish them a haughty and exciting Bon Voyage.
