At our September 4th meeting our Speaker, April Cain from Denton Rotary shared the Denton Rotary Club's vision for our a Southern Denton County Adoption Awareness Picnic. Denton Rotary invited Lewisville Morning Rotary, Lewisville Noon Rotary, Flower Mound Rotary and the Highland Village Rotary club to join the two Denton Clubs in hosting this years event. Many of our members were moved by her presentation and expressed an interest in participating with them.
Unfortunately, this years Adoption Picnic is on the same date that our members will be working at Household Hazardous Waste and the the Global Gift event showcasing Rotary's End Polio Now Campaign and the LMR Flag Program.
Even though we are not able to participate in the Adoption Awareness Event, we are encouraging as many of members as possible to donate needed items for the participating clubs to use for the event.
Item Donations: For those that want to help but maybe can't attend we are looking for the following donations:
1. Uniced Cupcakes for cupcake decorating
2. Baked Goods for the cake walk (Brownies, pies, cakes, cookies, breads, etc)
We have started this years Dictionary Project for the 11 title one schools in the Lewisville Independent School District.
We have purchased and labeled over 1000 student dictionaries an Spanish translation dictionaries.
We have distribution Scheduled for October 30th, November 4th, November 6th and November 13th. Please check the sign up sheet below to confirm your volunteer dates and times.
This will be a brunch rather than purely a pancake breakfast. The pancake part will begin at 9 AM and transition to a lunch of hot dogs and/or sausage-on-a-stick around noon, with service ending shortly before the parade at 3. The breakfast/breakfast will be served in the MCL Grand. The Lewisville Morning Rotarians will be promoting sponsorships for the event and of course preparing and serving the food.
This event will replace the Steak and Show event that was held in January last year. Club members look forward to serving community members in this way at the start of a new holiday season.
