Thank you to the Board of Directors and other club members that have been working to establish this years goals. Most of the goals were established when we established the 3 year Strategic Plan that was implemented in July of 2013. Our planning this year focused on enhancing our Membership Development efforts.
Goal #1
Grow membership by a net of 10%
To achieve this growth we will be implementing an aggressive membership recruitment program that Bob Troyer reviewed Club Assembly
We will investigate feasibility of implementing a satelite club on the east side of Lake Lewisville to include Little Elm, Colony & Castle
Hills areas
Goal #2
Service Above Self Goals
6 Community Service Projects that will include 900 Volunteer hours for the year
Expand youth services projects to include EarlyAct at Central and investigate implementing Interact at TCHS
Youth Services will include budgeting for 2 RYLA students and the identification of an exchange student host
Goal #3
Foundation Goals include continuing member and club contributions at rate of $3,100 per year
We will increase Benefactor participation by 2 members
Goal #4
All District Clubs are being asked to one thing new. We will do two new projects this year
a. Distribution of 2500 W82TXT thumb rings to discourage HHS students texting while driving
b. Implement EarlyAct at Central ES
Goal #5
Continue and improve our 4 annual Fund Raisers to support Shelter Box, CCA, Childrens Advocacy, Honor Flight, LEF, Hero's of Denton
Memorial Day was our 1st "Flag Program"Holiday of the year. Flag Day (14 June) was the second. On Independacne Day (July 14) we put out 270 flags. We have almost 100 new flag subscriptions. Many kudos' to Brent Myers and Bob Shell who busted their backsides to get the sleeves installed for these new flag locations.
Renewals of flag subscriptions are lagging behind with over 40 residents that have yet to renew their subscriptions. It is not to late for them. They can renew at a prorated rate for the last three holidays.
Please talk to your neighbors and friends in Lewisville (including Castle Hills), Flower Mound and Highland Village. If they have not renewed, encourage them to do so. At this time we are not accepting new subscriptions for this year. Online registration for renewals is always available on our website.

Lewisville Morning Rotary Salvation Army Kettle Volunteers
Chairman Steve Homeyer and a list of volunteers consisting of Frank Hebb, Howard O'Neal, Tom Atchison, George Gober, Naomi Lewis, Brent Myers, Cynthia Jaird, Marilyn Pokorny and John Pokorny helped the Salvation Army ring the Bell to encourage Sams Club shoppers to fill the kettle.
There are many stories that can be told which we experience when we ring for the Salvation Army. Steve Homeyer and I were still setting up when a lady pulled up in her car.
Six LMR members spent a portion Saturday, 22 August 2015, at the 2015 District Foundation and Membership Seminar at the Northwest Campus of Tarrant County Community College in Fort Worth. We heard several moving talks from RI Vice President Greg Podd on the subjects of membership and the Foundation. We also had the opportunity to sit in on several breakout sessions. We set up a booth soliciting other club involvement in our global grant project with the Nasik, India, TEACH project. We also received formal notification of our district grant for dictionaries.
The 1st Qtr Area 11 Round Table meeting, the first during Gerald Robinson's tenure as Assistant Governor for our area, met at the Global Spheres facility in Corinth the evening of 3 August 2015. Gerald had a packed agenda for the Presidents, President Elects and Membership Chairs from the Rotary Clubs of Lewisville Morning, Lewisville Noon, Flower Mound, Highland Village, Denton Morning, Denton Noon, and soon-to-be chartered Cross Timbers. Only Lake Ray Roberts was not represented in this new Area which includes all clubs in Denton County.
Lewisville Morning Rotary partnered with three of our Area 11 clubs (Lewisville Noon, Flower Mound and Highland Village) to sponsor the luncheon meals for members of local non-profits at the Unity in Community luncheon at the Hilton Garden Inn on Tuesday, 28 July.
With the assistance of our new friends from the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace, local office in Grand Prairie with headquarters in Puerto Rico, the blood drive at Vista Ridge Mall last Saturday was a rousing success. Activist activities included publicizing the event by roaming the mall in costumes of red and white blood drops. The Carter technicians had to ask them to slow down as they were getting too many people lined up to give blood. At least 47 people came through and just under 30 units of blood were collected. We hope to have representatives of the group visit us some morning for breakfast and also assist with the blood drive during Western Days.
On Saturday, September 12, 2015, members of the Lewisville Morning Rotary Club and the City of Lewisville will host our next monthly Household Hazardous Waste collection project.
On August 8 Lewisville Morning Rotarians and City of Lewisville employees collected and processed the waste of 99+ residents at the City of Lewisville Convenience Center.
Please contact Todd Taylor (ttaylor280@gmail.com) to let him know you will be Volunteering at the September 12 event.
