This week at Lewisville Morning Rotary
  1. Weekly Virtual Meeting with guest speaker Matt Doherty talking sharing his lessons learned while heading up a renowned college basketball programs. Invite friends and family members to join in...particularly those that are round ball fanatics.
  2. End Covid in Denton County. Join Rotary members from throughout Denton County volunteer with over 300 community volunteers per day at Texas Motor Speedway to assist the Denton County Health Department in vaccinating Denton County Residents against the Covid 19 Virus. All volunteer slots are filled this Thursday but to volunteer for Friday, click endcovidindentoncounty.org this weekend.
  3. Virtual Board of Directors meeting, Tuesday, April 13. Link to be sent to members.
  4. Mark the dates for volunteer opportunities at CCA on April 15 and at Keep Lewisville Beautiful on April 17.

Lewisville Morning Rotary Scholarships Announced
The Lewisville Morning Rotary Club partners
with the Lewisville Education Foundation to
Identify qualified High School Seniors for our Scholarships
 Every year Lewisville Morning Rotary awards scholarships to two high school seniors. One for a student that matriculated through our adopted elementary school, Central ES. The other to a senior from Hebron High School. Club leadership established the criteria for which each scholarship should be awarded and our partners, the Lewisville Education Foundation managed the scholarship applications and selection process. Below is the letter from LEF announcing this years recipients.
Tom Rowe wins 2021 Bracket Challenge in Support End Polio Now

was the Basketball Guru of Lewisville in the
2021 Bracket Challenge to End Polio Now!

We had a little March Madness Fun?  The bracket challenge winner gets 50% of the winnings!  Don't worry,  you don't have to be a basketball guru to play. That's what they said.  Did Tom end up guessing most of the time on these? Or, does he have some hidden expertise? Congratulations TOM!

Congratulations Milen Palous - Hebron HS Speech Contestant
Earlier this month, Hebron's Milen Palous won the
Lewisville Morning Rotary Four Way Test Speech Contest.
On March 27th she competed against 11 other high school 
contestants, placing 4th with another great speech.
Congratulations Milen! The District 5790 Contest Chair Lori Richardson Glovier reported "I am happy to announce the results of our successful Regional (first of two) Four Way Test Speech Contest which was held on March 27th via Zoom!  
11 students participated and the top 4 winners are:
Join members of Lewisville Morning Rotary volunteering at TMS Vaccination Hubs
LMR members and member spouses are 
volunteering along with 300 plus volunteers
at the Texas Motor Speedway Vaccination Hubs.
Lewisville Morning Rotary steering committee member for the Denton County Rotary clubs End Covid in Denton County steering committee advises that our members have been volunteering at the various vaccination hubs this past month. Those members include club president Mark Smith as well as his spouse Nancy Smith, Terry Kasen, Jeff Lighton, Deanna Perkins and John Pokorny.

There are several ways to serve in addition to the hubs, drivers are needed as well preparation staff in the Denton County Health Department office.
