Thank you to the Board of Directors and other club members that have been working to establish this years goals. Most of the goals were established when we established the 3 year Strategic Plan that was implemented in July of 2013. Our planning this year focused on enhancing our Membership Development efforts.
Goal #1
Grow membership by a net of 10%
To achieve this growth we will be implementing an aggressive membership recruitment program that Bob Troyer reviewed Club Assembly
We will investigate feasibility of implementing a satelite club on the east side of Lake Lewisville to include Little Elm, Colony & Castle
Hills areas
Goal #2
Service Above Self Goals
6 Community Service Projects that will include 900 Volunteer hours for the year
Expand youth services projects to include EarlyAct at Central and investigate implementing Interact at TCHS
Youth Services will include budgeting for 2 RYLA students and the identification of an exchange student host
Goal #3
Foundation Goals include continuing member and club contributions at rate of $3,100 per year
We will increase Benefactor participation by 2 members
Goal #4
All District Clubs are being asked to one thing new. We will do two new projects this year
a. Distribution of 2500 W82TXT thumb rings to discourage HHS students texting while driving
b. Implement EarlyAct at Central ES
Goal #5
Continue and improve our 4 annual Fund Raisers to support Shelter Box, CCA, Childrens Advocacy, Honor Flight, LEF, Hero's of Denton
Memorial Day was our 1st "Flag Program"Holiday of the year. Flag Day (14 June) was the second. On Independacne Day (July 14) we put out 270 flags. We have almost 100 new flag subscriptions. Many kudos' to Brent Myers and Bob Shell who busted their backsides to get the sleeves installed for these new flag locations.
Renewals of flag subscriptions are lagging behind with over 40 residents that have yet to renew their subscriptions. It is not to late for them. They can renew at a prorated rate for the last three holidays.
Please talk to your neighbors and friends in Lewisville (including Castle Hills), Flower Mound and Highland Village. If they have not renewed, encourage them to do so. At this time we are not accepting new subscriptions for this year. Online registration for renewals is always available on our website.

Lewisville Morning Rotary Salvation Army Kettle Volunteers
Chairman Steve Homeyer and a list of volunteers consisting of Frank Hebb, Howard O'Neal, Tom Atchison, George Gober, Naomi Lewis, Brent Myers, Cynthia Jaird, Marilyn Pokorny and John Pokorny helped the Salvation Army ring the Bell to encourage Sams Club shoppers to fill the kettle.
There are many stories that can be told which we experience when we ring for the Salvation Army. Steve Homeyer and I were still setting up when a lady pulled up in her car.
Come join us for breakfast Thursday morning at 7 AM. Our speaker is Heather Cicirello, Vice President of the Commercial Bank of Texas will be speaking about her career as a banker. First EarlyAct Club in Rotary International District 5790 Chartered
by the Lewisville Morning Rotary Club
29 - 5th Graders at Central Elementary School Students were inducted into the EarlyAct Club of Central Elementary School by district 5790 District Governor Troy Secord on October 8, 2015.
EarlyAct is a program sponsored by the Rotarians at Lewisville Morning Rotary that will provide students opportunities to participate in active citizenship in a culturally diverse democratic society with an interdependent world.
The EarlyAct Club of Central Elementary School is the first club chartered EarlyAct Club in District 5790. The EarlyAct movement started in Great Brittain and later spread to Florida and New Jersey. There are few EarlyAct Clubs in south and central Texas Districts. We are hopeful that this club will be the first of several in our district.
Membership in LMR is by invitation. I'm sure we all know some folks with great personalities that we'd love to work with.
Since we launched our Membership campaign in October, members have brought 101 Non-Rotarian guests have visited our meetings, 7 of which are not members.
Keep up the great work. Don't forget, in April members who have brought the most guests will be served ice cream by the losers that brought the fewest.
Starting with the Thursday October 1, 2015 Meeting at 7 AM

Two sisters, one blonde and one brunette, inherit the family ranch. Unfortunately, after just a few years, they are in financial trouble. In order to keep the bank from repossessing the ranch, they need to purchase a bull from the stockyard in a far town so that they can breed their own stock. They have only $600 left.
Upon leaving, the brunette tells her sister, "When I get there, if I decide to buy the bull, I'll contact you to drive out after me and haul it home."
The brunette arrives at the stockyard, inspects the bull, and decides she wants to buy it. The man tells her that he will sell it for $599, no less.
After paying him, she drives to the nearest town to send her sister a telegram to tell her the news.
She walks into the telegraph office, and says, "I want to send a telegram to my sister telling her that I've bought a bull for our ranch. I need her to hitch the trailer to our pickup truck and drive out here so we can haul it home."
The telegraph operator explains that he'll be glad to help her, then adds, "It's just 99 cents a word."
After paying for the bull, the brunette has only $1.00 left. She realizes that she'll only be able to send her sister one word. After a few minutes of thinking, she nods and says, "I want you to send her the word 'comfortable.'"
The operator shakes his head. "How is she ever going to know that you want her to hitch the trailer to your pickup truck and drive out here to haul that bull back to your ranch if you send her just the word 'comfortable'?"
The brunette explains, "My sister's blonde. The word's big. She'll read it very slowly - com-for-da-bul."
