This month HHS star pupil, senior Michelle Nguyen wowed our membership with her academic and service accomplishments while at HHS. The Senior has taken both Advanced Placement and Dual Credit courses in subjects like English, Government, Economics and Psychology.

As of today, 43% of our membership has completed our member satisfaction survey. If you have not completed the survey, please take 5 minutes before you leave our Thursday evening meeting to complete the survey. Return the completed surveys to Marilyn Pokorny or me (Bill Shaw). The survey is intended to solicit member opinions about our club meetings, projects, fund raisers and administrative processes. The membership committee will be analyzing the data from the survey to make recommendations to the BOD for improving our member experience. The committee will be presenting a survey response report to membership during one of the April meetings.

 

You can't learn if you are not in school. The staff and teachers at Central ES (our adopted school) work very hard to prepare our students for a successful education. We need to encourage our students to be there every day if possible. For the last 15 years our club has been encouraging students to achieve perfect attendance throughout the school year. At the end of the school year we work with administration to recognize those students that have achieved that milestone. All students that achieved perfect attendance are recognized and win a goody bag full of treats and games. Two lucky students in each grade, whose name is drawn at random win a bike.

Membership growth starts with community members that visit our club, meet our passionate and fun members and learn about our community service. In the wee hours of this Thursday morning, 5 LMR members, 1 LNR member and 5 community members will be leaving the airport bound for Costa Rica to participate in a community health fair serving the indigent population of Tirrases, Costa Rica. We will be partnering with the Rotary Club of San Jose Curridabat to serve 80 dental patients and many more medical care patients at the health fair Saturday, March 9th.
