February is Peace & Conflict Prevention/Resolution Month

As Rotarians we value the efforts of those committed to making our world a more peaceful place to live. Achieving peace in todays society begins with sincere recognition of the needs of all of it's members. Compassion will further peace when when we help the less fortunate achieve their needs.

Melissa Troyer Rowe will be running in the GE Irving Marathon on April 4, 2015. She will be doing the Marathon while pushing her mother (a polio victim) in a buggy. She is doing this to raise money and awareness for the eradication of polio! She has watched her mom's body be wracked by Post Polio Syndrome and would love to see this disease ended. Coincidentally when she pushes her mom's buggy in the marathon Melissa will be the same age her mom was when she first had to use a wheelchair. Please donate if you can!"

Sense & Nonsense

Three very dedicated, always follow "the rules", teachers were driving down the highway at a very slow speed. A policeman pulled them over and explained that driving so slowly on the highway could be hazardous. The driver pointed out the sign that read "20." He explained that he was going 20 mph because of the sign. The policeman pointed out that the sign indicated they were driving on Highway 20.

Somewhat embarrassed the teacher apologized and promised to be more observant.

As the policeman turned to walk back to his car, he noticed the other two teachers on the floor ...looking scared to death! He asked the driver, "What's wrong with them?"

The driver replied, "We just turned off Highway 105."
