LMR Membership Campaign

Membership in LMR is by invitation. I'm sure we all know some folks with great personalities that we'd love to work with.
Since we launched our Membership campaign in October, members have brought 111 Non-Rotarian guests have visited our meetings, 7 of which are now members. And, on March 31, 2016 we are inducting 3 more.
Keep up the great work. Don't forget, in April members who have brought the most guests will be served ice cream by the losers that brought the fewest.

Lewisville Morning Goals for the 2015-2016 Rotary Year
Goals and Objectives for 2015-16                                                                                                                                          Governors Cup?

Thank you to the Board of Directors and other club members that have been working to establish this years goals. Most of the goals were established when we established the 3 year Strategic Plan that was implemented in July of 2013. Our planning this year focused on enhancing our Membership Development efforts.

Goal #1
Grow membership by a net of 10%
To achieve this growth we will be implementing an aggressive membership recruitment program that Bob Troyer reviewed Club Assembly
We will investigate feasibility of implementing a satelite club on the east side of Lake Lewisville to include Little Elm, Colony & Castle
Hills areas

Goal #2
Service Above Self Goals
6 Community Service Projects that will include 900 Volunteer hours for the year
Expand youth services projects to include EarlyAct at Central and investigate implementing Interact at TCHS
Youth Services will include budgeting for 2 RYLA students and the identification of an exchange student host

Goal #3
Foundation Goals include continuing member and club contributions at rate of $3,100 per year
We will increase Benefactor participation by 2 members

Goal #4
All District Clubs are being asked to one thing new. We will do two new projects this year
a. Distribution of 2500 W82TXT thumb rings to discourage HHS students texting while driving
b. Implement EarlyAct at Central ES

Goal #5
Continue and improve our 4 annual Fund Raisers to support Shelter Box, CCA, Childrens Advocacy, Honor Flight, LEF, Hero's of Denton
County and Lewisville Lake Symphony

Mail Call for Honor Flight

Lewisville Morning Rotarian Terry Kasen is a BOD member for Honor Flight. Honor Flight is an organization dedicated to taking our aging WWII & Korean War vets to Washington DC to visit the memorials dedicated to their service.
One of the most touching event on that trip is a mail call. Please help by writing a letter to a vet. See attached for details. ‪#‎rotaryhasheart‬

Gift Bags for UNT and TWU Students
Rotary has heart. Not every student that enters the University of North Texas or the Texas Womens University has a supportive family to encourage and support them through their college years. Some students are foster children eking out a college education by all means available. Yet they still need to know someone cares and is encourages them in their pursuits of a higher education.

The eight Rotary Clubs in Denton County (Area 11) have banded together to provide gift baskets or bags for 20 such students at UNT and 20 such students at TWU. Each club was assigned a different month . Lewisville Morning Rotary was assigned the month of April. At the April 14, 2016 Club Assembly club members will be asked to assemble these bags. We will be doing two things;

1. Writing Post Cards with notes of encouragement to each student
2. Inserting a $5 Starbucks Gift Card into a velvet gift bag

Please come to the April 14th Club Assembly meeting with 2-$5 Starbucks gift cards you have purchased or a $10 bill another member can use to purchase 2 cards. If members have ideas of other items we can give these young folks, we are open to more ideas. Just keep in mind that each bag has to contain exactly the same items for each of the 40 Students.
May 14 Household Hazardous Waste
Below are photo's of the April 9th HHW Service Project headed up by Todd Taylor. This month Todd is at his daughters college graduation, so we are being led by non other than Frank Hebb. With some of our members going to the All-Clubs Conference, we are in need of volunteers. To volunteer, go to HHW Volunteer Page.
Obviously some vary serious work going on here.

April 9th was a very busy day in the life of a Lewisville Morning Rotarian. Not only did we have folks working at our Art Auction in Old Town Lewisville, we had a bunch of folks volunteering  at Household Hazardous Waste Collection at the city of Lewisville Convenience Center.
