During our March 10th event, Rotary volunteers and city staff will remove household hazardous waste from over 100+ vehicles.
Why? Because we love our city and want to keep our environment pristine. Waste is segregated and shipped to city contractors that either recycle the waste, safely use as energy or safely dispose in accordance with EPA regulations.
We are a People of Action
This event takes place the 2nd Saturday of every month.
In lieu of having our normal 7 AM meeting on Thursday, March 22nd, In honor of March being Rotary Water and Sanitation Month and March 22nd being UN World Water Day, the Lewisville Morning Rotary Club will host a Family Picnic and Tour of the Upper Trinity Regional Water District Treatment Plant.
Supporting The Rotary Foundation helps to improve Water and Sanitation world wide.
We here in Texas are blessed with an infrastructure that makes sure all of us have good clean safe water to sustain us. However, much of the world is not so fortunate. Clubs like ours throughout the world are making a difference by implementing water and sanitation projects that are funded by The Rotary Foundation (TRF).
Did you know that you can give as little as $10 to support such efforts through Rotary Direct? Simply select the Annual Fund you wish to support, the amount you wish to donate, whether your gift is a one time gift or monthly, quarterly or annual. then simply provide your credit or debit card information. For me, it is a budget friendly way of supporting the Rotary Foundation and water projects throughout the world.
A helicopter was flying around above Seattle when an electrical malfunction disabled all of the aircraft's electronic navigation and communications equipment.
Due to the clouds and haze, the pilot could not determine the helicopter's position. The pilot saw a tall building, flew toward it, circled, and held up a handwritten sign that said "WHERE AM I?" in large letters. People in the tall building quickly responded to the aircraft, drew a large sign, and held it in a building window. Their sign said "YOU ARE IN A HELICOPTER."
