Busy day of Service with our Lewisville Morning Rotary buds. Emptying 108 residents vehicles of their Household Hazardous Waste and prepping 1100 dictionaries for distribution to 3rd graders in 11 LISD title I schools. Great work by 12 of our members, our youth exchange student and 2 LHS Interact kids.

To quote our president Carolyn Wright, "Oh my what a full day! Our team started bright and early working to protect the environment through our Household Hazardous Waste Program (members within the community can bring HHW to be properly disposed of). Later we enjoyed pizza while signing dictionaries. Our club will donated the dictionaries to 3rd graders at eleven different elementary schools in the community. Thanks LMRC for supporting our literacy program. You RocKKkk!!"

Photo's tell the story of the day in ways a million words can't.
The photo's below and the light hearted captions provide a glimpse of two great projects and the fun we had serving.
Bring on those Bat trees.

Can anyone figure out what our president is up to in this photo?

Did you take good notes Mary?

Howard stops by to check us out. It was great to see our HHW mentor.

Next week, 3rd Graders from the Lewisville ISD Title I schools will receive a dictionary of their very own.
Why dictionaries & why 3rd graders? Because K through 3rd grade, students are learning to read. Every grade thereafter, they are reading to learn.
Dictionaries are the key to comprehension, grammar, spelling and understanding of our language.
Even in our digital society, teachers tell us, there is something about looking up words in a dictionary that teaches children in ways that Goggle can't.

Our fearless Dictionary Project leader Charlene.
Anyone that thinks coordinating a bunch of Rotarians and the 3rd grade class
rooms of 11 different schools is easy should try it sometime.
Great Job, Carlene!

President Carolyn took good care of us...providing lunch

Our truck drivers (Alex & Henrik)
They transported the boxes to team member cars where we will deliver to each of the schools Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.

1100 dictionaries is a lot of books to label and sign. Yet, not one cramp was reported.
Get that label straight Todd.
