Today, the Lewisville Morning Rotary Club and the Flower Mound Rotary Club hatched a plot to honor Howard O'Neal the father of Lewisville Morning Rotary and current member of the Flower Mound Rotary Club.
In addition to being the charter President of the Lewisville Morning Club, Howard has been instrumental in working with the City of Lewisville to establish and organize a Household Hazardous Waste management program in Lewisville. The program started in 1999 with Lewisville Morning Rotary members volunteering quarterly to collect waste that residents should not be placing in their trash containers where it will end up in the landfill or our sewers. The program has grown to a monthly program where LMR members volunteer monthly. Howard has led us to serving approximately 20,000 vehicles and collecting 2 million pounds of materials on 144 collection days since it's inception.
Howard received a proclamation from the City of Lewisville recognizing his work on Household Hazardous Waste for the last 18 years.

Long time city environmental manager, Lisa Weaver was there to talk about the early days of HHW and how the program was started. Lisa ended her wonderful program by reading a proclamation signed by Mayor Rudy Durham,

Several of the Lewisville Morning Rotary Clubs were at Flower Mounds regular Thursday noon meeting to recognize Howard in addition to his current fellow members from Flower Mound Rotary. Of course, being the fun loving Rotarians we are, we took advantage of the time at the podium for a light hearted roast recognizing Howards attributes and efforts. The roast ended with a very special gift in honor of the Proclamation.  Of course, it is only appropriate that the gift be made of completely recyclable waste.
