Rotary members from Lewisville Morning and Lewisville Noon Rotary Clubs were among Central ES staff at the annual Red Carpet Welcome for the 1st day of the 2021-2022 school year.

After the shut-down caused by the 2020 pandemic, it was really rewarding to be among the staff and fellow Rotary members at Central Elementary School as we welcomed back students for the 2021-2022 school year. Fellow Rotary members Bob Troyer, Mark Smith and John Pokorny from the Lewisville Morning Rotary Club and Bobbie Mitchell, Fred Whitfield and TJ Gilmore from the Lewisville Noon Rotary Club were among the Central ES staff that hooted and cheered as students and their families walked the red carpet toward their class rooms.

Even Captain America was in the house to welcome students.

Watching the video's below provides a brief idea of the experience. Obviously, not all the students were thrilled, but were there with a sense of anticipation of what the new year would bring. They brought their face masks, they brought their boxes of Kleenix and they brought their sani-wipes. Some even managed to bring pencils, paper, crayons and other school materials.

The Red Carpet Welcome is an annual tradition at Central Elementary School in Lewisville. It is obvious that the staff here is well prepared to make the student learning experience the best and most healthy possible.

This is one of the many projects that Lewisville Morning Rotary Club does at Central Elementary School. We consider CES to be our adopted school where members participate in the annual Read Around Central event, provide dictionaries to 3rd graders, bikes for highly engaged students and donate books to the school library. We will continue to work with the Central ES staff however we can to help our students have the best possible education our community can provide.
