Members Deanna Perkins and Richard Malcolm shared their vocations and their lives with us at the August 11 meeting. Photo shows Deanna and Richard signing two books that were donated to the Central Elementary School.
Richard Malcolm sharing his vocation...helping those in need of assisted living services
Among Rotary's traditions, is the Vocation talk given by fellow Rotarians. Sometimes called the Classification Talk, Vocation presentations are the opportunity to share our life and career with our Rotary buds. As Rotarians we believe that our vocation is an opportunity to use our vocations to serve the community.
Rotarians often talk of our 7 areas where we focus our service efforts; Maternal and Child Health, Basic Education and Literacy, Community Economic Development, Environment, Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution, Disease Prevention and Treatment, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. As we listened to Deanna's and Richards presentation is became extremely obvious how these two have focused their lives towards serving the needs of others through their careers. Deanna in basic education and economic development. Richard in economic development, disease prevention and treatment.
Aside from their career, these fellow members are really interesting people. We learned things about both that would not ever come up in normal conversation. Thank you Deanna and Richard for sharing your lives with us.
