Denton County Salvation Army Emergency Service Mobile Canteen "Doing the Most Good"
Serving Hurricane Harvey Victims in Houston

Stephen Thomas, Executive Director Denton County Social Services will speak at the Feb. 22nd Lewisville Morning Rotary Club Buffet Breakfast Meeting at the Christian Community Action Main Offices Community Room on 200 S. Mill in Lewisville at 7 AM.

Few in our area know that the Salvation Army Lewisville operations include a fully equiped mobile canteen designed to serve thousands of meals in response to disasters such as Hurricane Harvey.
Fewer still know that Lewisville area Salvation Army Volunteers sent a team to Houston and spent weeks their ministering to the emergency meal needs of 1000's residents. They were among the 1st to mobilize when the flood waters started rising and the last to leave long after the waters receded leaving a massive recovery effort in it's wake.

Mr. Thomas will be joining Rotary members and guests to tell the fantastic Salvation Army story of service and "doing the most good" in Houston. Steve and team will be bringing the canteen to CCA this Thursday so that members and guests can tour the vehicle after the meeting. The equipment is really quite impressive.

Come join us. Hear a great presentation. Meet our Rotary members. And, walk away proud that members in our community participated their time, talent and treasure to serve our fellow Texan's in their time of great need. And, BTW, kettle you helped stuff last Christmas? That kettle is a phenomenal reminder of the way the Salvation Army uses our donations in the most cost efficient way possible. Salvation Army was rated #1 one by several charitable  rating agencies in particular Charity Navigator which rated them just ahead of our own Rotary Foundation.
