Tammy Ellis and Lewisville Morning Rotary Youth Services Chair Heather Cicirello

According to the Rotary International Manual of Procedures, persons who have distinguished themselves by meritorious service in the furtherance of Rotary ideals and those persons considered friends of Rotary for their permanent support of Rotary’s cause may be elected to honorary membership. The Lewisville Morning Rotary Club Board of Directors has voted to make Tammy an Honorary Rotarian for the fantastic work she has done for The Colony Interact Club and her many other contributions to the community and The Colony High School.

During conversations over the past several months that I have been fortunate enough to have with Mrs. Ellis, little bits of information have exposed something about her when you put it all together.  I have made the conclusion that she wears MANY hats. I have also discovered that each one of those hats is worn with the sole purpose of benefiting a student or family member rather than thinking of the benefit she will gain by accepting the role that the hat assumes.
To the students assigned to her classes she is a debate and U.S. Government teacher at The Colony High School. To another group of students she is the UIL Academic Team Sponsor and the Current Events & Film Coach. To yet another group of students, the future Rotarians of our community, she is the TCHS Interact Club sponsor. Each of them know she is more than just a teacher, coach, or sponsor. It is clear that she selflessly gives much more of her time and energy caring for the future success of each student than would ever be expected of her. And we all know teachers are expected to work miracles!
It is clear that Mrs. Ellis embodies the qualities that each Rotarian prides themselves in. She is THE example of service above self. Therefore, we on behalf of Lewisville Morning Rotary Club, we would like to present this plaque bestowing upon you the status of Honorary Rotarian.
