Three Lewisville Morning Rotary members to participate in the District 5790 End Polio Bike Ride

 

On October 20, 2019, they will participate in the Rotary District 5790 Ride to End Polio, and they are asking for your help. Please support them with your District 5790 Bike Ride to End Polio donation.

This bike ride is unique in that there are several riding options for our riders on October 20th. Riders can participate in a 25 mile bike ride that begins and ends in Grapevine Texas. Or, riders could ride a spin cycle or stationary bike for 1 hour in at the Keller Life Time Family Fitness center or Riders can choose or Riders can choose to do a one hour ride at another fitness center near them.

 

Member Maithen Elizabeth Fluhrer will be doing a spin cycle at the Lifetime Family Fitness Center in Flower Mound. Members Marilyn and John Pokorny doing at tag team one hour event with Central Texas e-club member PDG Gene Davenport at the Mansions of Hickory Creek fitness center where all three live.

 

Why Polio?  When Rotary began its quest in 1988 to eradicate polio world-wide, there were 350,000 new cases of polio each year, in 125 countries.  Today, thanks to the combined efforts of Rotary, the CDC, WHO, UNICEF and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation this year there have been only 71 new cases of polio in only two countries, Pakistan and Afghanistan, a 99.98% reduction!  We are “this close” to finishing the job, and when completed, children around the world will no longer have to fear, or be immunized against, this dreaded disease. 

Our district goal is to raise $75,000.  My personal goal is to raise $2500.  If you would like to help, it’s very easy.
