For our club members he is simply Henrik. Henrik is shown here in an sponsors ad in the
Marcus Basketball "Pound the Rock" Basketball Program.

Henrick is a German Exchange student from Ulm, Germany. His host parents are Lewisville Morning Rotary members John & Marilyn Pokorny. Henrik hopes to experience as much of American culture as possible over his year long visit to Texas including of course american style basketball. Join his fan club and come to watch him play JV basketball for Marcus. See Schedule for game dates, times and locations.

One of the many projects our club participates is the Rotary Youth Exchange Program. The program allows students 15 to 18 1/2 years old to travel to another country and experience that country's culture for a year with a family in the host country. Rotarian Youth Exchange Program volunteers arrange both inbound and outbound students. Families and students are completely vetted to assure a safe and productive experience for both the student and host family. This year our club is hosting a student from Germany. As shown in the photo below, part of our students cultural immersion includes playing JV Basketball for the Marcus Marauders. There are many differences between life as a student in Germany and life as a student in the US. The experience has been rich for both our student, the host family and his Rotary family here in the US.
