Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2022
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a reminder to us all that we have been blessed to live in a resilient nation where leaders with character can and do make our country better for all.
 
We at Lewisville Morning Rotary wish to say thank you to all our flag subscribers. We wish you memorable Martin Luther King Day celebration for you and your family as this country gives tribute to a man that successfully led this county to peaceful change.

In 1983, President Reagan signed a bill marking the 3rd Monday of January as Martin Luther King Day and in January of 1986 the very first National Martin Luther King Jr Day was observed.
 
So, how are members of our community celebrating MLK's legacy 34 years later? Below are a few local events subscribers and their families may wish to consider.
 
 
  • Keep Lewisville Beautiful, Monday, January 17th from 2-3pm and Tuesday, January 18th from 11am-12pm, KLB will be partnering with volunteers to seed wildflowers and make a difference in our community parks system.

    A few more hands to help are needed both dates, so let them know if you are interested. These will be smaller groups, with a limit of 10 people due to space and supplies available. Click here to signup for one of the following: Orchard Valley Park from 2 to 3 pm on Jan 17, Valley Ridge Green Belt Park from 2 to 3 pm on Jan 17 and Garden Ridge, 11 am to noon.
  • MLK Day of Service: Community Art Quilt. Design a square to be added to a community quilt in support of MLK and Service. 3 to 5 pm on Jan 17 at Kindred Creatives Art and Literary Press, 2401 S Stemmons FWY, Lewisville. Tickets are free.
  • Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Exhibit, Jan 17 from 11 am to 7 pm at the Frisco Public Library, 6101 Frisco Square Blvd in Frisco.
 
 
The Lewisville Morning Rotary Club is honored to make United States flags available to help our community participate in remembering our freedoms made possible by leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr. Thank you for your support.

Subscribers can expect to see their flags installed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on or about January 14th. Our scouting partners will start removing the flags on or about January 23th and taking them to our storage facility.

Consider a flag subscription that says "thinking of you" during each of the patriotic holidays.
 
Simply mark "This is a Gift" for the "are you a renewal customer question. Or, if completing manual form, mark "This is a Gift" in the Special Instructions section at bottom of form.
 
Nicely printed cards about the gift are available upon request.
