The Lewisville Morning Rotary Club was honored to welcome a visiting Rotarian to our weekly meeting from the Rotary Club of Lagos, Nigeria.
Hairat Aderinsola Balogun is a Nigerian lawyer, the first female Attorney General of Lagos State. She is a Life-Bencher, and was the first female Chairman of the Body of Benchers. She was also the first female member of the council of the International Bar Association, and she is a Life Member of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA). Furthermore, she was made Officer of the Order of Niger for services rendered to the Nigerian legal profession.

In 2012 she became the first female president of the Rotary Club of Lagos, and held the presidency until 2013.  Her Club is nicknamed “The Grandfather Club” in Rotary District 9110 for having chartered over a dozen other clubs.

The principal project for the Rotary Club of Lagos this past year was to supply 3000 different mobility aids, such as wheelchairs, crutches and canes to people in need. Their club has also helped build wells in a village west of Lagos to provide potable water.

Hairat truly represents the spirit of Rotary and the Lewisville Morning Rotary Club was honored to have her visit our club.
